Hanging Shaw Car Park (867 298)
This is a moderately difficult walk along well marked footpaths. There is a steep climb up to Cronkley Fell (548 m), bout is is on an easy path with plenty of good resting places on rocks alongside. At the base of Cronkley Scar there is also a narrow rocky section alongside the Tees that requires careful walking. Sturdy comfortable waterproof walking boots are strongly recommended. Some walkers may find a walking pole helpful. We would expect the walk to take approximately 4 hours
Who can take part?
If you think the walk is suitable for you, then you are welcome to take part! There is no membership, or commitment to come on future walks, and no need to register in advance, just turn up on the day. The walk is free however voluntary donations of £1.00 are welcomed to help cover our insurance costs and other overheads.
The suggested minimum age for participants is 11 for this walk, but all under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Unfortunately we are unable to accept unaccompanied children or dogs..
What to bring
