The walk is organized by Middleton-in-Teesdale Walkers are Welcome. It will be guided by a walk leader and will go at a pace that accommodates all participants. A walk around Balderhead Reservoir and across Hunderthwaite Moor before climbing to the summit of Shacklesborough which provides an excellent panorama with views of the chain of Baldersdale reservoirs. Lunch stop en-route.
This walk is free to attend but voluntary contributions of £1 are welcome on the day. Unfortunately we are unable to accept unaccompanied under 18s or dogs on this walk.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Start time and location
Meet at Bainbridge fountain, Middleton by 9.45 am. or at Balderhead Car park for a 10.00 start.
Parking
Parking at Middleton Sports & Social Club (946 255) or Balderhead Car Park
Difficulty
This walk is on footpaths, shooters tracks & with a couple of short sections of road, - parts can be be wet and muddy. There is also a climb up to Shacklesborough. Sturdy comfortable waterproof walking boots are needed. Some walkers may find walking poles helpful. We would expect the walk to take approximately 3 1/2 hours
Who can take part?
If you think the walk is suitable for you, then you are welcome to take part! There is no membership, or commitment to come on future walks, and no need to register in advance, just turn up on the day. The walk is free, however, voluntary donations of £1.00 are welcomed to help cover our insurance costs and other overheads.
The suggested minimum age for participants is 11 for this walk, but all under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Unfortunately this walk is not suitable for dogs and we are unable to accept unaccompanied children.
What to bring
Make sure that you have waterproofs, walking boots, some food and plenty of water. Some walkers may wish to bring walking poles.
