Please take note of the following points:
1. The Teesdale Challenge Walks are self-led. You will find the routes for each type of challenge, bronze silver or gold described on this website, along with gps route files which can be downloaded.
2. Everyone is welcome to undertake the challenge walks, but you will need appropriate footwear and clothing. Always make sure you are adequately dressed and equipped for the grade and conditions. Boots are advisable on most walks. Always carry waterproof clothing.
3. For day long walks, remember to take enough food and drink for the walk as there is seldom anywhere to get refreshments on route. For day long walks we also recommend that you carry emergency rations, an appropriate emergency blanket or survival bag, whistle, torch and personal first aid kit.
4. Even on shorter routes it is recommended that you take water with you.
5. Some routes show alternative paths where they may be affected by any severe weather. Becks and streams which are crossed via stepping stones may become impassable after heavy rains.
6. When planning take account the grade of the walk, the weather conditions and your level of fitness.
7. If you are taking a dog on any of the walks, please remember to keep your dog under close control over farmland where there may be stock grazing and on a lead through any farmyards.
8. Always follow the countryside code. Click here for the official version.
9. Please note that the Teesdale Challenge Walks are provided by Teesdale Walkers for your enjoyment and the Teesdale Walkers are not responsible for any accident to persons or property during the walks.
10. And most of all – enjoy the walks as much as we do!
